Bhavanarayana Temple was constructed by the great king Krimikantha Chola in 1465 and was restored by Raja (King) Vasireddi Venkatadrinaidu of the Amravati kingdom in 1856. This temple has been preserved for years by the archeological department of India.

Bhavannarayana Swamy Temple is located in Bapatla town, Bapatla district. It is one of the famous ancient Vaishnava temples in Telugu states. This is an ancient temple. Pavitrotsavam and Rathotsavam are well done. This temple is owned by the Archeology Department of India. Here the presiding deity Ksheera Bhavanarayana Swamy is enshrined along with his consort Sundaravalli. The deity here is Swayambhu (Self-manifested). There are evidences that Sri Krishna Devaraya visited this temple. Sthalapuranam, temple history, etc. are written on every stone in the temple. Lakhs of devotees flock to Tirunallas (Brahmotsavas) which are celebrated in summer every year.

Features of the Temple:

Bhavannarayana Swami Murthy stands on his toes and waits for the devotees.

Another strange thing is that inside the temple we feel warm in winter and cold in summer.

In the past, Shiva Temple was also an integral part of the temple itself.

This temple has two flag pillars and the pillars of the temple are in the shape of Gajapada (elephant leg).

Matsya (fish shape) is visible on the roof behind the sanctum sanctorum in the temple. Devotees consider it auspicious to touch it.

There is also a shrine for Vikhanasa Munindra like nowhere else in the country...that's why it is said that Bapatla is emerging as a good educational center.
